Katherine Heigl is Not Fit to be a Cowgirl Posted: 26 Apr 2011 02:03 AM PDT Katherine Heigl has been busy being a mom and housewife for quite sometime, she’s losing her good sense of fashion. And these days she’s been trying on different styles that only make her look worse. And this ensemble is really getting unwanted attention-by the fashion police.
Indeed she’s sporting a very expensive cowgirl ensemble by Ralph Lauren, but this outfit definitely makes her look lame. The white bell sleeved blouse and the $ 2500 fringed leather skirt, matched with a bull skull belt and brown slouchy boots only made her look matronly, and her monstrous updo made us cringe. Is she going back to the ’70s Nashville country scene or what? Kath, can’t you dress a little normal, at least when going to business meetings? Photos by Wenn.com Edit your submission |

Skeletal Archiporn: 16 Sublime Photos of Scary Scaffolding Posted: 25 Apr 2011 10:04 PM PDT Shaun Usher (formerly of build-environment blog Deputy-Dog) is at it again, finding rare beauty in the most unusual places – in this case, through an incredible diverse set of temporary, building-trade support structures. Though the work covered on Scaffoldage is contemporary, scaffolding itself dates back beyond recorded history, likely used in as-yet-mysterious projects ranging from the great pyramids of Egypt to Stonehenge in the United Kingdom and more. From airplanes and cruise ships to monuments and skyscrapers, we rarely see the interstitial phase in which they are shaped and informed by a vast network of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical lines, essential to enabling their existence in the first place. Though widely used today, everything from materials (bamboo and plywood to aluminum and steel) to construction methods (lashed, stacked, overlapped and more) varies from one regional context to the next. For better or worse, safety concerns are likewise diverse, ranging from countries that require always-on harnesses to free-climbing daredevils in less-controlled work environments. For more of these dizzying delights, visit Scaffoldage. Edit your submission |
Whitney Port Channels Princess Leia Posted: 25 Apr 2011 10:03 PM PDT One celeb we nearly missed at the Coachella Music Festival last week was Whitney Port. The former star of “The City” was pretty and fresh in white at the said weekend fete, and she had her locks tied in twin buns.
Is Whitney trying to start a hair fashion trend? Apparently the twin bun updo has been the signature hairstyle of Star Wars’ Princess Leia, and although it served its purpose of keeping her fresh during the hot spring afternoon, it’s not in any way fit as a style trend for the present generation. We’re guessing she’s just trying to make a statement, together with her granny shades. Photos by Wenn.com Edit your submission |

Posted: 25 Apr 2011 10:00 PM PDT Khloe cleaning strike Khloe Kardashian goes on cleaning strikeIt's “Kleaning Up With The Kardashians” … or not. Khloe Kardashian went on a cleaning strike to teach basketballer hubby Lamar Odom a lesson for being messy around the house. But the reality TV star went one step further, deliberately leaving hair by the bathroom sink and squeezing out toothpaste by the shower. Kardashian, 26, began her trail of destruction after becoming frustrated with Lamar for not tidying up after himself. The TV star found a chocolate stain on the bed, got paper stuck to her foot and tore her hair out as her husband and brother Rob refused to clean up the messy kitchen. "Lamar is so disgusting," she said. "I kind of knew Lamar was a little sloppy like any guy, but what I live in is on another level. I am incredibly OCD. My house is incredibly clean. It's immaculate – that's how I like to live."After Rob, 24, told his sister she should clean the house herself and Lamar, 31, refused to lift a finger to help, Khloe lost her temper. "You want to live in filth? Go for it, my little piglets. I am not cleaning this shit up. I want you guys to know how it feels to live in your filth." While her brother and husband were out, Kardashian proceeded to sabotage the bathroom – and her antics finally appeared to tip Lamar over the edge. "Are those pubic hairs?" he asked with disgust as he and Rob examined the filthy bathroom. But after a showdown with her husband of 18 months it all ended well with a kiss. The scenes were shown on the couple's reality show – a spin-off from Keeping Up With The Kardashians – which aired in the US on Sunday. Source: MSN Edit your submission |

Artistic Alphabet: Still-Life Photography of Life-Sized Letters Posted: 25 Apr 2011 06:04 PM PDT The ‘font’ itself is simple, and the process strangely circular – epic amounts of work are put into placing all of the pieces in three-dimensional space, all to set the stage for single photograph of what looks like a two-dimensional letter. Dan Tobin Smith has done everything from advertising and interiors to still lifes, but these bold and elemental alphabet shots stand out from his expressive and varied portfolio. The material palette is as broad as it gets – from the broken boards of an old floor to bright flowers and back-lit medical beakers, either defining the edges or interior of each typographical element in this ongoing series. This is one of those cases where setting parameters and creating consistency through recognizable symbols is (ironically) liberating, setting up a series of colorful (as well as black-and-white) contrasts from one moment to the next. Stripe Shawl Collar Cardigan at Oak Posted: 25 Apr 2011 06:01 PM PDT
On my weekly Oak browsing, I caught a view of the navy-and-white Utility Shawl Collar Cardigan. The 100% linen cardi is unisex, with drooping patch pockets and an overall generous drape on the frame. A five-button closure makes it great to wear on a gusty boat trip, on the beach, or while night cycling, and its fairly simple shape will catapult it to 2012, if you take care of it well. As someone who regularly kills garments before their lifespan is up, I can recommend some tips: wash on cold & delicate, soaking first with spot treatment if necessary. Lay to dry flat on a towel, and don’t assume your cleaners/fluff ‘n fold will keep it safe. An obvious first choice would be jeans; I’d like to see it with flat-front shorts and boat shoes.
