Front Row: Yasmin Le Bon Special Guest at Little Joe Woman RAFW Posted: 29 Apr 2011 02:09 AM PDT By Chloe Schneider If you’ve been keeping your eye on our Rosemount Australian Fashion Week coverage and YouTube channel, you’ll be well aware that we’ve got our eyes fixed backstage and on the runways of RAFW. There’s only one thing that can distract us from that runways and that’s the front row. Gail Elliot and Joe Coffey of Little Joe Woman have just announced their front row guest at this years show and we couldn’t be more excited. International Supermodel Yasmin Le Bon will be flying to Sydney thanks to Qantas to attend the Little Joe Woman show on Tuesday 3rd May at 12 noon. The show, Love in Exile, is one of many Spring/Summer collections that we just can’t wait to see and this addition to the front row just has us even more impatient! Yasmin was named ‘The Face of the Eighties’ by many international magazines. She has worked with photographers Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, graced the covers of Elle, Vogue and more and has been the face of Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Missoni, Lagerfeld and Ralph Lauren. She is truly a fashion legend. Little Joe designer Gail Elliot gushed, “I’m so thrilled Yassy’s coming to Australia for the very first time and exclusively for the Little Joe Woman Spring/Summer 2011 ‘Love in Exile’ collection at RAFW in May. It’s going to be so exciting this year with new sponsors Quintessentially and MINI supporting us for the first time, as well as Lancome and L’Oreal Professionnel who will be working together on looks I know that Yasmin and I will love! Yasmin has been one of my closest friends for 25 years and has always been so supportive of me and our brand Little Joe Woman” Stay tuned to RESCU’s RAFW blogs and YouTube channel for exclusive coverage of the show! WATCH: Jamie Oliver Wants Flavored Milk Removed From Schools Posted: 29 Apr 2011 02:09 AM PDT Remember how when I was little sometimes the only good part of my day was getting a chocolate milk when I got home from school? Well, little did my 8-year-old self know that I was slowly killing myself. Hooray! Jamie Oliver, king of the “Food Revolution” in American schools, was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on April 26th and announced his plans to remove flavored milk from cafeterias. He was joined by John Deasy, the superintendent from the Los Angeles Unified School District, and the two revealed that their plan will start next fall. That means no strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, or whatever other artificially flavored milks will be tolerated as part of an option at school. The only problem is that if the school systems are able to sniff out flavored milks without the added sugar, there’s a chance that the flavored drinks could be reintroduced back into schools. What was great is that Jimmy Kimmel is backing their plan, and seeing as he is a parent we think that’s the responsible thing for him to do. View the clip in full below! Benjamin Eidem by Weston Wells Posted: 29 Apr 2011 02:02 AM PDT
The smartest look here? For me, the shrunken cardigan worn with flat-front pants and running shoes. It might not be the most fashion-forward, but it is trim and attractive for the weekend. It’s easily put together with finds from your closet, and I can actually imagine someone wearing it regularly. A smarter, more nautical look is one with a striped tee, soft shorts, and no-nonsense shoes–perhaps for wearing in the park or scrambling up a rocky path? Both of these looks also have a slight Ivy-style bend that I’d like to see in some other places beside stereotypical Cambridge. I give extra points for the use of navy and black together. Jason Schwartzman Narrates Film On Eating Meat And Environment Posted: 28 Apr 2011 02:05 PM PDT It’s no secret that the meat industry has negatively impacted our environment. But despite that fact it hasn’t stopped the industry from controlling the food we eat. Enter the short film “What to Eat,” narrated by Jason Schwartzman. Schwartzman is best known for his roles in the film Rushmore and the HBO series “Bored to Death,” but for the short film he is featured as a narrator who comments on how what we eat effects the impact on the planet. What’s so nice about it is that this film isn’t preachy, it’s not some condescending lesson on why people who eat meat are bad or how we’ve ruined the earth. Instead it looks at the life of an ordinary family man, and his choice (after hearing about meats negative effects) to make dinner for his family without the use of meat. We never see the man’s face, as the camera is used as his POV, but we hear Schwartzman’s voice as he goes through the motions of waking up, eating breakfast, driving to work, eating lunch, and going food shopping. Throughtout the day he is bombarded with information and statistics about the meat industry, to which he gradually becomes more concerned as to what he’s putting into his body.
