Eva Mendes is the face of the huge campaign and showed up to the event looking incredibly glamorous and, well, angelic in a custom made strapless, white Mugler dress adorned with a wing tipped bustier and three sparkling silver stars on the hip. Her stunning silver Sobek Christian Louboutin peep-toes were the perfect finishing touch. Naomi Watts, the previous face of the fragrance, made an appearance in an understated, sophisticated black pant suit to pass the beauty baton to Eva. Kiehl’s Gives Iconic New York skincare masters Kiehl’s have announced a global initiative to promote philanthropy around the world and have secured stars Julianne Moore, Pharrell Williams and The Scissor Sisters to partner in the project. To give things a good start, Kiehl’s have pledged $ 160,000 for three causes; Children’s, Environmental and HIV/AIDS issues, across twenty-four different charities. Keri Hilson Keeps Up with a Simple Fashion Disaster Posted: 28 Jun 2011 10:03 PM PDT Keri Hilson was looking pretty, but at the same time disastrous at the BET Awards held during the weekend. Can we ever trust her style sense given this fashion police alert? The singer/songwriter nailed the bob hair, but her purple and black combination didn’t do anything nice at the red carpet. The strapless purple top may have had a sweetheart neckline, but it wasn’t able to make her look sweet at all. And the baggy pants was too long for her petite figure, she nearly stepped on them if not for her nasty heels. When will she ever learn how to dress up? We’ll never know. Watch 11,000 Paper Lanterns Float Into The Night Sky Posted: 28 Jun 2011 10:03 PM PDT Revelers celebrating last week’s summer solstice in Poznan, Poland created a beautiful sight with the release of more than 11,000 paper lanterns into the evening sky. The scene was reminiscent of  a moment from Disney’s animated film “Tangled” when Rapunzel discovers true love. If you’re the parent of a 2.5 year old like me, you’ve likely seen it. 10-40 times. But I digress… Of course, all of those pretty lanterns eventually have to come down, leading to potentially messy outcomes. Germany, Australia, and parts of New Zealand have banned them over the fear of sparking wildfires. The UK Express reports that cows, sheep and horses have “suffered horrendous injuries after eating the lanterns' wire frame and a dozen animals have been killed.” I did find one version claiming to be eco-friendly and 100% biodegradable (with no metal parts) but as one farmer said, even alternatives can be harmful. “There’s talk of ‘eco-friendly’ versions but all they do is replace the wire with bamboo,” said a UK farmer, “and that’s just as bad. Bamboo is as sharp as a piece of metal and it takes 35 years to decompose.” So, now you know. Paper lanterns look amazing, but the world is better off with some virtual representations.
