Convicted White Supremacist On The Run Arrested In Parking Lot Of A Mexican Walmart Seems like Walmart is not the place to be kickin it if you’re a convicted neo-Nazi on the lam… William A. White, a former neo-Nazi leader turned fugitive, is back in the United States after his arrest last week in the parking lot of a Mexican Walmart. White was being held Monday in a federal detention facility in Miami, according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons. Authorities flew White to Miami from the Mexican resort town of Playa del Carmen, where he was arrested Friday on charges of violating his probation. According to an article published Saturday in Milenio, a Mexican newspaper, White put up a fight before he was apprehended in the parking lot of a Walmart. A photograph that accompanied the story showed a handcuffed White being led away by a heavily armed Mexican law enforcement official. White was quickly deported from Mexico, apparently because he entered the country illegally, said Chief Deputy Brad Sellers of the U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities say White, who was on supervised release after serving prison time for making racially charged threats, left his home in Rockbridge County last month without informing his probation officer — a violation of his probation. From there, White made his way to Playa del Carmen, just south of Cancun, where he was located by Mexican authorities with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals. Sellers declined to comment on what led the marshals to White’s location. White now faces a hearing in federal court in Miami before his transfer back to Roanoke. That process could take at least several weeks, authorities said. Once White appears in U.S. District Court in Roanoke, he will face additional time for violating the terms of his supervised release. Even before he skipped town, White was facing a new sentencing hearing after a federal appeals court ruled that the judge who sentenced him to two and a half years in federal prison in 2010 did not properly follow sentencing guidelines. At the time of the appeals court decision, lawyers involved in the case said White would face no more than an additional three months, and conceivably no time at all. Now, with the events of recent weeks, White’s legal situation appears more dire. White, who once was the self-proclaimed commander of the Roanoke-based American National Socialist Workers Party, was convicted in December 2009 of making racially charged threats, usually by email or on a website he maintained at the time. U.S. District Court Judge James Turk sentenced White the following year to 30 months in prison. The 35-year-old was released from prison about a year ago and had been living most recently in Rockbridge County.

The former Pro Bowl receiver signed with the Miami Dolphins on Monday, four days after being released by the New England Patriots. The signing came after Ochocinco had a tryout with the Dolphins, who are thin at the position and dropping a lot of passes in offseason drills. He’s likely to join the team for this week’s OTAs, which continue through Wednesday. “Congrats to Chad,” tweeted his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. “It’s nice to come home.” The 34-year-old Ochocinco, a Miami native, made the Pro Bowl six times, most recently in 2009. He had only a minor role in his lone season with the Patriots, catching 15 passes for 276 yards. The Dolphins traded Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall to the Chicago Bears in March for two third-round draft picks, and didn’t draft a receiver until the sixth round. Following a practice Monday, coach Joe Philbin conceded there has been room for improvement in the pass-catching during offseason workouts. “You would like to have some players make it easy and distinguish themselves, maybe make the picture a little bit clearer,” Philbin said. “We have to catch the ball more consistently at every position on offense, because it is not quite where it needs to be.”

Accuser Testifies That Jerry Sandusky “Treated Him Like His Girlfriend” A 28-year-old man testified Monday that former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky treated him “like his girlfriend” for more than two years, showering him with gifts he was afraid he would lose if he told anyone about Sandusky’s increasingly sexual behavior. Sandusky, 68, denies all 52 counts alleging that he abused 10 boys over 15 years. Two grand jury reports accused him of having used his connection to one of the nation’s premier college football programs to “groom” the boys —whom he met through his Second Mile charity for troubled children — for sexual relationships. Earlier, on the opening day of his trial, Sandusky’s attorney appeared to surprise prosecutors by listing Sandusky as a possible witness in his own defense. The trial before a jury of seven women and five men heard opened in Centre County Court in Bellefonte, Pa., culminating months of breathless coverage that led to the firing of head coach Joe Paterno, who won more games than any other major college football coach in history, many of them with Sandusky at his side. Paterno died in January, a few weeks after he was dismissed for having failed to report Sandusky’s alleged abuse. The first of eight alleged victims expected to testify — identified as alleged victim No. 4 — said he endured more than 40 “very uncomfortable” incidents involving Sandusky during the two years, when he was 12 and 13 years old. (Although the men are being identified by name in court, NBC News and msnbc.com do not identify the victims of alleged sexual assaults.)

Vanessa and Kobe Bryant’s Divorce Put On Hold While The Attempt Reconciliation According to TMZ reports: Vanessa Bryant will NOT sign documents to make her divorce final … at least for now … because TMZ has learned, she and Kobe are working on a full reconciliation. We’ve learned Kobe and Vanessa are trying to work out the issues that caused her to file for divorce back in December. They spend a lot of time together but he has not officially moved back in with her. Under California law, Vanessa has to wait 6 months before she can file final docs making the divorce official. The 6-month mark hits this weekend, so Vanessa could end the marriage as early as Monday … but we know she won’t.

Student Returns Scholarship Intended For Black Students There’s been a lot of talk about whether white students should be privy to scholarships and awards generally reserved for Black students. Well one high schooler took the debate into his own hands. A white student at Riverside High School in California has returned a $1,000 dollar scholarship intended for black students. Jeffrey Warren of Martin Luther King High School received the scholarship from the Martin Luther King Senior Citizens Club at a school awards night last month, prompting giggles from the crowd. Later Jeffrey learned what all the laughter was about, prompting him to return the scholarship. Even though the presentation was an awkward moment, Jeffrey says "now it's kind of a joke" with his his friends. Jeffrey's father, Rod Warren, said his son applied for 27 scholarships and also won three others, two for $2,000 each and another $500 scholarship. He encouraged his son to apply for every scholarship for which he might be eligible. The Martin Luther King Senior Citizens Club plans on changing the language on the application for next year's scholarship applicants to make it clear that the scholarship is intended only for African-American students. The scholarship application clearly states that only African-Americans are encouraged to apply, but that doesn't go far enough.
