Lamar Odom Traded Back To The Los Angeles Clippers

According to TMZ reports:

In a move that might revitalize both his basketball and his reality television career … Lamar Odom is heading back to Los Angeles … ’cause he’s officially been picked up by the Clippers.

Odom was the main piece in a four-team trade that was finalized this afternoon. LO will be leaving the Dallas Mavericks, where he spent one absolutely terrible season.

Lamar is in the final year of his contract and will make $8.2 million this year.

This will be Odom’s second stint with the Clip Squad … he was drafted 4th overall by the team back in 1999. He later spent seven season with the Lakers.

Congrats Lammy, hopefully this move will get you back on your game and revitalize your career.

American Student Doing Research At Jane Goodall Institute In Critical Condition After Chimpanzee Attack

This man just learned a horrible lesson about wild animals:

Chimpanzees at a sanctuary for the animals in eastern South Africa pulled an American working there into their enclosure, bit him severely and dragged him nearly a half mile (kilometer), according to a paramedic official and local media reports.

The man was leading a tour group at the Jane Goodall Institute Chimpanzee Eden near Nelspruit, some 180 miles (300 kilometers) from Johannesburg, Thursday when two chimpanzees grabbed his feet and pulled him under a fence into their enclosure, Jeffrey Wicks of the Netcare911 medical emergency services company said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press on Friday.

Mediclinic Nelspruit, the hospital where he was taken, said Friday he was in intensive care in critical condition after undergoing surgery Thursday.

The man had "multiple and severe bite wounds" and was dragged nearly a kilometer by the chimpanzees, Wicks said.

Beeld, a South African newspaper, reported Friday that the man was an American researcher who was giving tourists a lecture at the time of the attack. The tourists were escorted to safety by staff members as the chimpanzees dragged the man out of their enclosure, Beeld reported. The sanctuary's director fired into the air to scare the chimps away from the man, and then chased the animals back into their enclosure. Beeld reported the man lost part of an ear and parts of his fingers.

The international institute founded by renowned primatologist Jane Goodall opened the sanctuary in 2006. It is a home to chimpanzees, which are not native to South Africa, rescued from further north in Africa. Some of the chimpanzees at the sanctuary lost their parents to poachers in countries where they are hunted for their meat, and others were held in captivity in cruel conditions as little more than roadside attractions.

In the United States this week, lawyers for Charla Nash, a Connecticut woman who was attacked in 2009 by a friend's 200-pound chimpanzee, filed papers accusing state officials of failing to seize the animal before the mauling despite a staff member's warning that it was dangerous.

The chimpanzee ripped off Nash's nose, lips, eyelids and hands before being killed by police. Nash was left blinded, and received life-changing face transplant in 2010. She is still waiting for a successful hand transplant.

There’s no getting his ear and fingers back, but we hope this guy is able to make a full recovery otherwise.

CBS Escapes Fine For 2004 Superbowl Halftime Show Slip-Up

CBS has managed to dodge a $550,000 fine for Janet Jackson’s bosom-bearing half-time show “slip-up” with Justin Timberlake.

The Supreme Court decided Friday not to consider reinstating the government’s $550,000 fine on CBS for Janet Jackson’s infamous breast-baring “wardrobe malfunction” at the 2004 Super Bowl.

The high court refused to hear an appeal from the Federal Communications Commission over the penalty.

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals twice had thrown out the fine. The second time came after the Supreme Court upheld the FCC’s policy threatening fines against even one-time uses of curse words on live television.

The appeals court said FCC’s policy of excusing fleeting instances of indecent words and images appeared to change without notice in March 2004, a month after Jackson’s halftime act. The judges said that made the agency’s action against CBS “arbitrary and capricious.”

But now, the FCC clearly has abandoned its exception for fleeting expletives, Chief Justice John Roberts said.

“It is now clear that the brevity of an indecent broadcast — be it word or image — cannot immunize it from FCC censure,” he said. “Any future ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ will not be protected on the ground relied on by the court below.”

In addition, Roberts said that calling it a “wardrobe malfunction” when Justin Timberlake ripped away part of Jackson’s bustier “strained the credulity of the public.”

CBS said it was grateful for the court’s decision.

We’re just wondering why this is still being appealed eight years later. Surely there’s more pressing court matters to focus on…..like this one.

No love for Madea?

Soul legend Diana Ross wants no part in Tyler Perry‘s plans to help her big screen comeback and has been ignoring his phone calls “for years”, according to the movie mogul.

Perry revealed earlier this year that he had written a film especially for the Motown icon in a bid to put her back on the big screen 40 years after she won critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Billie Holiday in 1972′s Lady Sings the Blues.

He said, “I have the perfect role for her… It’s a jazz movie set in the 1940s, and (Ross) would play a jazz singer who runs a juke joint (music venue), and I just wish she would do it.”

Perry has reached out to Ross to bring the screenplay to life, but he admits the former Supremes diva has been snubbing his pleas.

The star tells lifestyle website Essence.com, “She’s been ignoring me for years. She’s the only person that I have dreamed of working with that will not return my phone calls.”

He got the chance to meet his idol once before and the filmmaker pounced on the opportunity to coax Ross into considering the project – only to be completely shut out.

Perry says, “That was it, she never called me again. She said, ‘No!’ And that was it.”

DAYUM! Divas dont’t shuck and jive for Madea apparently. The boss has starred in such classics as Mahogany and Lady Sings the Blues — we probably wouldn’t return his call either.
