We’ve lost another young talented sister too young. Via The Root.com: Erica Kennedy, an author and blogger best known for popular novels Feminista and Bling, has died. She resided in Miami Beach, Florida and was 42 years old at the time of her death, according to a family member. Additional details on the circumstances are not available yet. A former fashion publicist, Kennedy started her writing career as a special correspondent for the New York Daily News. She went on to write about fashion and entertainment for magazines such as Vibe, In Style, Paper and Elle UK, according to her website. In 2004 she published a satire on the high stakes world of hip-hop with her debut novel Bling, which went on to become a New York Times best-seller. Five years later she released her second novel, Feminista, a story about smart, modern women. Fellow author Rebecca Walker interviewed Kennedy for The Root in 2009.

Mother Injects Heroin Into 12-Year-Old Daughter More Than 200 Times A Pennsylvania mother of two is accused of getting her teenage daughter hooked on heroin and injecting her with the drug hundreds of times when she was too weak to do it herself. Authorities say that Brandi Baumgardner, 38, of Beaver Springs, began smoking marijuana with her daughter when the girl was 12 years old, The Daily Item reports. The girl, whose name is being withheld due to the nature of the case, told police that she began using harder drugs, like heroin, when she was 14. The now 14-year-old says that she has abused prescription pills and crack cocaine, in addition to heroin and marijuana. Baumgardner allegedly injected the child with heroin about 200 times when she was too "sick" to do it by herself. A 22-year-old Beaver Springs man is also accused of shooting the teen up — in exchange for sex. The girl says that Robert Thomas Hannick gave her suboxone, a drug prescribed for opioid dependence. Hannick denied that he provided the girl with drugs, authorities said. It is unclear how Hannick came into contact with the teen, or what connection, if any, he has to Baumgardner.
B-b-but wait it gets worse. Baumgardner admitted that she and her daughter had a drug problem when she was interviewed by state police, according to court documents obtained by The Daily Item. The daughter told authorities that her mother would sometimes take her to the hospital with a fake illness to get prescription drugs. The 14-year-old also says that she and her mother would share Fentanyl patches. Fentanyl is a prescription pain killer that is 100 times more powerful than morphine.

That swirl love is just so sweet, even if Tiki had to kick a pregnant wife to the curb for it… Tiki Barber and fiancée Traci Lynn Johnson may have postponed their Hamptons nuptials last month, but the couple looked like they couldn't wait for their honeymoon at the Einstein Emerging Leaders launch party at Three Sixty on Thursday. The pair showed up looking sharp at the TriBeCa benefit for the Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, but they apparently stole off at one point to play doctor themselves. "The two of them spent the first part of the night enjoying sushi, sliders and fresh pasta while mingling with guests and listening to DJ Louie XIV spin," said a spy. But after an hour of mingling, they slipped away to a private room. "Some staffers went into the room a few different times and saw them deep in conversation on the couch, which then turned into some canoodling in the corner," said a spy at the fete for 500. "They were there for over an hour!" After their quality time together, the lovebirds emerged to party some more, then headed into the night: "They took the party to where I can only assume would be home," a spy joked after the couple's romantic tête-à-tête at the bash, which was stocked with young professionals interested in supporting health-care research. The ex-Giant told us yesterday: "Our good friend Kyle Widrick invited us, and we went to support him. The cause is obviously important, and it was a fun crowd, so we enjoyed it. "Both Traci and I have been burning both ends of the candle, working full-time and getting through charity season, so we stole away to have some quiet time because I hadn't seen her all day. We actually went back into the party for another hour or so, then [left] because I was wiped." He added the couple's wedding plans — moved back from May so Barber's divorce could be finalized — are "going well, keeping on schedule." And when we mentioned he and Traci — who rocked a flirty red party dress and strappy heels — were looking smart at the Einstein bash, he quipped, "Traci is always making me look bad because she's so damn beautiful."
What a cornball! Does Tiki have a job yet? Oklahoma City Mother Sentenced 15 Years For Raping Her Son’s 13-Year-Old Friend A wife, mother and former nurse, accused of sexually abusing one of her son's classmates is sentenced for the crime. Amy Blose, 38, faced two-dozen criminal counts of rape, sodomy and lewd molestation. Friday a Cleveland County judge sentenced the Norman woman to 15 years behind bars. In court, Blose frequently smiled and giggled. The judge, and several family friends of the victim, criticized her for not showing any remorse for the crime. "It's heartbreaking she doesn't take responsibility and stand up and say she's sorry," Stephanie Odle said. "It wasn't about vengeance, it's about making Amy responsible for her actions," Angie George said.
Blose entered a no contest plea in April. When she's released from prison, she will have to register as a sex offender.

San Antonio Spurs Player Tony Parker Injured During Drake-Chris Brown Brawl San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker says he suffered a scratched retina on one of his eyes during a New York City nightclub brawl involving singer Chris Brown and members of hip-hop star Drake’s entourage. Parker, wearing dark sunglasses, described the incident Friday in Paris during a news conference posted on YouTube. He said he expects to be sidelined for about a week while the French team prepares for the Summer Olympics. Parker said he was wearing a “therapeutic” contact lens and had to go to an emergency room for treatment after arriving in Paris. Parker said: “I was with my friend Chris Brown and me and my friends took some punches, so I’ll be missing the start of the French team because I can’t do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops.” Police said Brown, his girlfriend and his bodyguard were among several people injured during the bottle-hurling fight early Thursday at W.i.P in SoHo. Parker said “they started throwing bottles everywhere. I don’t know what happened. At first it was OK, but then it started getting worse and when the plane landed it was really hurting so I went straight to the ER.”
